It’s a little bit sad, but I don’t have a barbecue. And I like barbecuing so much… meats and vegetables and even fruit take on an entirely different flavour when roasted outside. To try and fill the need for charred food in my life, I’ve got an indoor grill. It’s sorta the same thing, except when I grill outside, I don’t end up cleaning all the counter tops and washing the floor afterwards. I guess it’s not such a bad thing that I’m forced to clean every once in a while.
This tasty, Asian-influenced marinade is great for beef short ribs. The recipe is here: http://bbq.about.com/od/marinaderecipes/r/bl91002b.htm
Here’s what happened:
Got some scallions (but called them green onions).
And some garlic.
These are the beef short ribs for marinating.
And here are the ribs, marinating.
Korean Sesame Rib Marinade
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup sugar
6 cloves garlic, minced
3 scallions chopped
3 tablespoons sherry
2 tablespoons sesame oil
2 tablespoons roasted sesame seeds
1/2 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
In a bowl dissolve sugar in soy sauce and sherry. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Use with desired meat by marinating for about 1 hour.
